As of November 2022, there were 1,302 Education Bills proposed before State Legislatures. Is there a national crisis of empty classrooms, under qualified educators and unfilled educator openings negatively impacting local school districts? Dr. Tuan D. Nguyen, Ph.D., Kansas State University, published a recent paper on this very question. The research group found 36,504 estimated open teaching vacancies, nationally, compared to media reports stating ~300,000 vacancies reported in an NEA estimate.
