Occasionally, people ask "What is it you actually do?"
We save lives... everyday. How we do it is as enumerate and creative as the complexity the circumstances require. One of the most powerful of these is helping people understand how we THINK and ACT. In less than 72 hours, more than 4 million teachers and over 75.2 million students (avg. 19:1 student to teacher ratio) will return to classes all across the United States from Christmas break. Poverty: Big Question... Does God really care about the poor?
Yes! If you need proof;
God cares deeply for the poor. He commands all believers to care for them too. One test of the sincerity of your faith in God is your care for the poor. If you are poor, suffering from a crippling disease, grieving the loss of a loved one, feeling lonely or abandoned, or living in constant danger, your greatest hope as a believer is that this condition is temporary. God promises that for all eternity you will be free from all trouble when you live with him in heaven. While you may not understand why some people seem to get all the breaks on earth, God assures you that those who love him will get all the breaks for eternity.
“He has brought down princes from their thrones and exalted the humble. He has filled the hungry with good things and sent the rich away with empty hands.”
He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
God’s perfect plans will one day be fully accomplished. When Jesus returns, all wrongs will be made right. The hungry will be fed and those whose greed caused their hunger will be judged. Until then, they need US... and we need you.
Happy New Year!
